Hooker Valley Track with a view of Aoraki / Mount Cook

What is the Guided Milford Track and Aoraki itinerary?

Nine nights: Aoraki / Mount Cook for warm-up walks, Queenstown, then the guided Milford Track — five days and four lodge nights from Lake Te Anau to Milford Sound. Guided places are limited and book far ahead. Quoted at net rates.

Last updated: 5 October 2026

The shape

Why it runs in this order.

A day of shorter walks at Aoraki / Mount Cook first, so the track is not the first exercise after a long-haul flight, and a night in Queenstown afterwards. The track itself is walked in one direction only, which is why departures are fixed.

Who it suits: Fit walkers comfortable with several consecutive days of around six hours on foot. The guided format suits clients who want lodges and carried meals rather than huts and their own food.

Destination guides on this route: Christchurch, Aoraki / Mount Cook, Queenstown, Te Anau & Fiordland, Milford Sound.

Services this programme draws on: Great Walks & guided walking, Guides & driver-guides, Coach & private transfers.
