Editorial standards — how we source, date and correct.
How Explera DMC New Zealand writes the guides on this site: where facts come from, how dates work, what we never publish and how to tell us about an error.
How does Explera check what it publishes?
Every guide on this site is written for the travel trade from official and primary sources, such as the Department of Conservation, councils, regional tourism organisations and operators’ own pages. Facts that change, such as timetables and opening dates, are dated or marked to confirm at quotation, and all dates follow New Zealand time.

Where our facts come from.
Official and primary sources
Facts come from the Department of Conservation, Te Ara, Heritage New Zealand, NZTA, Immigration New Zealand, Stats NZ, councils, regional tourism organisations, ports, iwi and operators’ own pages for their own products.
News checked before we write
Before a new blog topic, we check Tourism New Zealand news, Travel Today NZ, Stats NZ tourism releases, the Beehive tourism portfolio and DOC media releases, then rule out topics already covered.
Our own words
Every sentence is written by us for the trade. Nothing is copied or closely paraphrased, and a booking site or travel blog may point us to a fact but is never cited on the page as a source.
Sources on the page
Destination and theme guides list their main sources at the foot of the page, with the date they were checked. A page with no documented source shows no list.
Dates in New Zealand time.
Blog posts carry their real publish date in New Zealand time (Pacific/Auckland), never a future or back date. When a post’s content is materially revised, it shows a “Last updated” date; fixes to an image or a description do not change it. Guide pages show the date their text last changed, and the same date goes to the sitemap.
Each page is written in English and published in 9 languages; the English page is the reference version.
The lines we hold.
- Invented facts, statistics, reviews, testimonials or client names
- Registrations, licences or memberships we do not hold
- Retail prices for travellers; net rates are quoted to the trade on request
- Timetables, opening dates or fees as fixed facts: these are dated or marked to confirm at quotation
- A photo captioned as a place it does not show

Editorial standards — questions agents ask.
Where do the facts on this site come from?
From official and primary sources: the Department of Conservation, Te Ara, Heritage New Zealand, NZTA, councils, regional tourism organisations, ports, iwi and operators’ own pages. Destination and theme guides list their main sources with the date they were checked.
How are dates handled?
Blog posts carry their real publish date in New Zealand time, never a future or back date. A post that is materially revised shows a “Last updated” date, and guide pages show when their text last changed.
How do I report an error?
Email b2b@explera.co.nz with the page address and what is wrong. We check it against the source, correct the page in every language, and a materially revised post shows its new date.
Does this site publish prices?
No retail prices. Explera works B2B, so net rates are quoted to travel agents and tour operators on request. Time-sensitive costs such as levies and fees are dated or marked to confirm at quotation.
