Art Deco walks and vintage-car tours in Napier, cellar doors and vineyard lunches around Hastings and Havelock North, the view from Te Mata Peak and the gannet colony at Cape Kidnappers. Napier Port receives cruise ships from October to April.
Hawke’s Bay, Te Matau-a-Māui, is a region on the east coast of the North Island, and Napier and Hastings are its two cities. Napier was rebuilt in the Art Deco style after the 1931 Hawke’s Bay earthquake, and the Art Deco Trust, a registered charity, runs daily guided walks and vintage-car tours. Hastings and Havelock North lie to the south, below Te Mata Peak.
Hawke’s Bay Tourism describes the region as New Zealand’s oldest wine region, with more than 200 vineyards and over 35 cellar doors, best known for Syrah, Chardonnay and Merlot–Cabernet blends; the Gimblett Gravels district covers about 800 hectares. For groups we run cellar-door days with a driver, vineyard lunches and the flat Wineries Ride on the Hawke’s Bay Trails.
Napier Port receives cruise ships from October to April each year. For cruise lines and their agents we plan Napier shore excursions — Art Deco walks, winery visits and Te Mata Peak — timed back from the all-aboard, with coaches at the port and passenger movements confirmed with the port for each call.
As your Hawke's Bay DMC, Explera is the destination management company behind the itinerary — contracting the accommodation, arranging the transfers and excursions, booking guides and handling changes once your clients are on the ground. You keep the client relationship and the retail margin; we run Hawke's Bay on the ground.
