Short answer: American Airlines has resumed its seasonal nonstop service between Dallas Fort Worth and Auckland, Travel Today NZ reported on 28 October 2026. The route runs until 25 March, is operated in conjunction with Qantas and is flown with a retrofitted Boeing 787-9. Explera DMC New Zealand plans the ground programme for US groups from the Auckland arrival onwards.

This briefing is for travel agents and tour operators in the United States, Canada and Mexico who send groups to New Zealand over the southern summer. Dallas Fort Worth is American's main hub, so the route gives clients from many North American cities a one-stop journey to Auckland.

What has changed on the Dallas–Auckland route?

  • The season is back. Travel Today NZ reported on 28 October 2026 that American Airlines has resumed its seasonal Auckland–Dallas Fort Worth service.
  • Until 25 March. The service runs until 25 March, so it covers the New Zealand summer and the start of autumn.
  • With Qantas. The route is operated in conjunction with Qantas, American's partner on flights across the Pacific.
  • The aircraft. A retrofitted Boeing 787-9 flies the route.
  • One stop to many cities. Travel Today describes the route as a one-stop link between New Zealand and the US, Canada, Mexico and beyond.

What should agents in North America plan for?

  • Check the season dates. The route is seasonal. A group travelling after 25 March needs a different routing, so we confirm the flight before we fix the land programme.
  • Allow for the long flight. We plan a gentle first day in Auckland, with a hotel near the start of the touring and no early start the next morning.
  • Connections in Dallas. Clients from other cities connect at Dallas Fort Worth. The airline and the agency manage the connection; we plan the Auckland arrival around the confirmed schedule.
  • Entry rules. US, Canadian and Mexican visitors need an NZeTA or a visa before they travel. See our New Zealand entry requirements briefing.
  • The arrival. We arrange the airport meet and the coach from the terminal. See our Auckland Airport terminal transfers briefing.
