Short answer: Delta Air Lines flies between Los Angeles and Auckland every day from 26 October 2026 until March 2027, then three times a week until May. The route is seasonal, built around the New Zealand summer. Explera DMC New Zealand plans the ground programme for US groups arriving on it, from the Auckland arrival onwards.
Delta is one of several airlines that link North America and Auckland. Its season matters for agents in the United States because it adds daily capacity in the months most US clients want to travel.
What did Delta announce?
Travel Today reported on 15 October 2026, quoting Jeff Moomaw, Delta's Vice President Asia Pacific:
- Daily flights between Los Angeles and Auckland from 26 October 2026 until March 2027.
- Three flights a week from March until May 2027.
- A seasonal route. Delta has flown to New Zealand for three years, mainly for an extended summer season, and most of its passengers on the route travel from the United States to New Zealand.
- No year-round decision yet. Delta said year-round flying is under consideration, but for now it matches capacity to demand, which peaks in the New Zealand summer.

What changes on board?
- Aircraft. Travel Today reported that Delta's Airbus A350-900 returns to Auckland at the end of October 2026.
- New Delta One service. Los Angeles–Auckland is the first route in Delta's network for its redesigned Delta One premium cabin service, with a new menu and amenity kits. No launch date was given.
- Baggage at Los Angeles. Delta has launched a baggage transfer at Los Angeles for passengers arriving from Sydney, so their bags do not need to be collected and checked in again. Delta said it could extend this to Auckland within two years.
What should agents in the United States plan for?
- Book the peak early. Daily flights cover the New Zealand summer, which is also the domestic holiday peak. Hotels, coaches and activities fill first from Christmas to the end of January.
- Check the shoulder months. From March the route drops to three flights a week, so group dates in autumn need to fit the flight days.
- Plan the first day. After a long overnight flight, a slower first day in Auckland lowers the risk to the rest of the programme.
- Confirm details at quotation. Schedules can change. We check the current flight days for each group before we confirm the ground programme.
