Short answer: Korean Air moved its Auckland–Seoul service to daily flights from 25 October 2026 and now flies the route with a 325-seat Boeing 787-10 and a 311-seat Airbus A350-900, in place of a 278-seat 787-9. Its integration with Asiana Airlines is due on 17 December. Explera DMC New Zealand plans arrivals, rooms and touring for Korean groups landing in Auckland.
This briefing is for travel agents and tour operators in South Korea, and for agents elsewhere who route clients through Seoul's Incheon Airport. A daily nonstop service gives Korean groups more choice of arrival day, which changes how a New Zealand programme is built.
What has changed on the Auckland–Seoul route?
- Daily from 25 October 2026. Travel Today NZ reported on 27 October 2026 that Korean Air has moved Auckland–Seoul to a daily service.
- Larger aircraft. The 278-seat 787-9 has been replaced by a 325-seat 787-10, and a 311-seat A350-900 is also on the route.
- Cabins. Both aircraft have a refreshed Prestige (business) class, and the A350-900 has 33 Economy Extra-Legroom seats.
- Demand. Korean Air's general manager for New Zealand, Jaewon Park, told Travel Today that economy bookings have grown and that corporate and Prestige demand to Korea and beyond has risen strongly. No figures were given.

What does the Asiana integration mean for agents?
- The date. Travel Today reports that Korean Air will integrate with Asiana Airlines on 17 December.
- New Zealand operations. Korean Air's New Zealand operations are expected to continue largely as normal.
- The wider network. Park says the combined airline will rank among the top 15 airlines in the world by available seat kilometres.
- Transit options. Park also points agents selling travel beyond Korea to the Transit Tour and K-Stopover programmes run by Incheon Airport.
What should agents plan for?
- Arrival days. A daily service means a group can land in Auckland on the day that suits the programme. We plan the first night and the airport meet around the confirmed flight.
- Book premium seats early. Park advises agents to book early before peak seasons because Prestige seat inventory is limited. Incentive and corporate groups that need business class should hold seats first and build the land programme second.
- Peak periods. Korean demand follows the Seollal and Chuseok holidays, the summer vacation and the honeymoon calendar. Our Lunar New Year 2027 briefing covers the busy February weeks in New Zealand.
- Onward travel. Popular elements in Korean programmes include Rotorua, Hobbiton, Queenstown and Milford Sound / Piopiotahi. We plan domestic flights and coach legs from the Auckland arrival.
- Guiding and meals. We request Korean-speaking guides where the programme calls for them, subject to availability, and plan Korean dining stops in advance.
