Short answer: China Eastern flies Shanghai–Auckland–Buenos Aires on a Boeing 777-300ER and can carry passengers between Auckland and Buenos Aires without a change of aircraft. It launched on 4 December 2025 with two round trips a week. Explera DMC New Zealand builds the ground programme around the day the group lands in Auckland.
The route gives travel agents in Argentina a single-aircraft link to New Zealand.
Who flies between Buenos Aires and Auckland?
- The airline and aircraft. China Eastern operates flights MU745 and MU746 on Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
- The rights. China Eastern holds fifth-freedom rights in Auckland, so it can carry passengers between Auckland and Buenos Aires as well as to and from Shanghai.
- The launch schedule. At launch, MU745 left Shanghai on Mondays and Thursdays and MU746 left Buenos Aires on Tuesdays and Fridays.
- More flights from December 2026. China Eastern has announced that the route grows from two to four round trips a week from 5 December 2026. Confirm days and times at quotation.

How does the schedule shape day one?
- The date line. Flights from Buenos Aires cross the International Date Line, so clients land in Auckland on a later calendar day than they left. Build the rooming list from the arrival date.
- A long journey. The whole route is about 20,000 kilometres. Plan an easy first day in Auckland before any long coach day.
- Seats for a group. With a few flights a week, a group's dates follow the flight days. Hold air space early and confirm group seats with the airline or the agency's consolidator.
What else should agents check?
- Entry. Clients must meet New Zealand's entry rules for their passport, including an NZeTA where it applies. See our entry requirements guide.
- Biosecurity. Food, outdoor gear and sports equipment must be declared on arrival. See our biosecurity briefing.
- Language. Spanish-speaking guides need booking early for the summer season.
