An overnight cruise on Milford Sound The Milford Mariner sails at 4pm and returns at 9.15am, with meals, a kayak or tender excursion and a nature guide on board. Guests stay on the fiord after the day boats leave. Doubtful Sound overnights are seasonal, with dates confirmed at quotation. ## 2. A glacier heli-hike at Franz Josef A helicopter lands the group on the glacier for a guided walk on the ice. Franz Josef Glacier Guides give the trip as about four hours, with about 2.5 hours on the ice. Weather decides flying days, so we add a buffer day. ## 3. A ski-plane landing at Aoraki / Mount Cook Ski-planes fly from Aoraki / Mount Cook Airport and land on the snow of the Tasman Glacier. The Kawarau Bridge bungy The original 43-metre jump near Queenstown opened in 1988 as the world's first commercial bungy site. Jumpers must be at least 10 and weigh at least 35 kg, and the upper weight limit can drop when the river is high. ## 5. The Shotover Jet A jet-boat ride of about 25 minutes through the Shotover River canyons at Arthurs Point, with 360-degree spins. A minimum height applies, set by the operator on the day. ## 6. The Hobbiton Evening Banquet Tour The Evening Banquet Tour runs for about 4.5 hours and adds a meal and extra time on the Hobbiton Movie Set near Matamata. Bookings are essential. ## 7. A dark-sky night at Lake Tekapo The Dark Sky Project runs guided summit tours on Mount John, home of the University of Canterbury's Mt John Observatory. Whale watching at Kaikōura Sperm whales live off the Kaikōura coast all year. Boats run subject to sea conditions, so we plan two mornings in Kaikōura. ## 9. Black-water rafting at Waitomo The Legendary Black Water Rafting Co. runs three-hour trips on inner tubes down an underground river below glowworms. No caving experience is needed, but moderate fitness is, and a minimum weight of 45 kg applies. ## 10. A marae stay with a hāngī An overnight on a marae, with a hāngī meal, is arranged only where a marae or a Māori-owned operator chooses to host visitors. Guests are briefed on tikanga before they arrive. Availability is confirmed at quotation. ## What to check before booking NZ experiences for incentive groups - **Weather buffers.** Flights and boats are sold as weather-dependent, never as fixtures. Plan a spare half day in Queenstown, at the glaciers and in Kaikōura. - **Limits.** Bungy, rafting and jet-boat rides have age, weight or height rules.
